Our member Maria Elena Cueva died on June 16, 2007.  On June 22, 2007 we presented the tribute shown in the attached photo at her funeral at St. Frances De Sales Church in Sherman Oaks. 

At the memorial service, our member and Past President Barbara Jury gave a lovely tribute in  Maria's memory.  Five  members (Barbara, Joyce Jacob, Stephanie Klopfleisch, and Julie) attended the funeral and went to the reception following the service at the Sportsman's Lodge.

Maria was born on Catalina Island on October 13, 1932.  She was a teacher and academic program development leader in the Los Angeles Unified School District.  Maria was inducted into membership in Soroptimist International in 1974.  She was an avid traveler and very devoted to her family and especially to her nieces and nephews, all of whom returned her love. Maria was an officer of the club and of our foundation.

We will miss her.
